Twenty five terms used every day in this business, defined plainly. Where a term comes from a platform document, the platform's own definition is used and the chapter that quotes it is linked.

- **Agency**: A business that operates several creator accounts it does not own, paid as a share of what they earn. It has no contract with the platform: its only contract is with the creator. [Chapter 1](https://ofm-business.com/guides/what-is-ofm/).
- **Chargeback**: A fan reversing a payment through their card provider. The OnlyFans terms state the platform may deduct an amount equal to the creator earnings portion of the reversed payment. [Chapter 2](https://ofm-business.com/guides/how-an-agency-is-paid/).
- **Chatter**: A person paid to write a creator’s direct messages and sell paid media inside them, in the creator’s voice. Paid hourly, on commission, or both. No official occupational code exists for the role. [Chapter 4](https://ofm-business.com/guides/chatter-costs-and-ai/).
- **Connected bot**: A Telegram Business feature, announced March 2024, letting a bot process and answer messages on a personal account’s behalf. It is the officially published mechanism that has no OnlyFans equivalent. [Chapter 5](https://ofm-business.com/guides/platform-rules/).
- **Creator**: The account holder. Signs the platform terms and carries legal responsibility for everything published and sent from the account, including what a third party sends. [Chapter 1](https://ofm-business.com/guides/what-is-ofm/).
- **Creator earnings**: OnlyFans’ own defined term: the portion of a fan payment payable to the creator after deducting all fees and applying relevant tax laws. The normal base for an agency share. [Chapter 2](https://ofm-business.com/guides/how-an-agency-is-paid/).
- **CRM**: The software layer an agency runs the accounts from: inbox, lists, scheduling, roles, reporting. Distinct from an AI chatting product, though several vendors sell both. [Chapter 4](https://ofm-business.com/guides/chatter-costs-and-ai/).
- **Fan**: The paying subscriber. In the OnlyFans filed accounts, fan accounts are counted cumulatively as accounts created and not since deleted, which is not the same as active users.
- **FIL Fee**: The name OnlyFans gives its own cut in the fan and creator contract: 20 percent of all fan payments. The complementary 80 percent figure appears in the operating company’s filed accounts. [Chapter 2](https://ofm-business.com/guides/how-an-agency-is-paid/).
- **Fragment**: The platform Telegram states it uses to process rewards, that is, to get Stars out as money. Operated by a separate company, with its own terms. [Chapter 2](https://ofm-business.com/guides/how-an-agency-is-paid/).
- **Full AI mode**: Software handles every eligible conversation, with no human in the message loop. Sold by several vendors under that exact name, and priced as a commission on what it sells. [Chapter 6](https://ofm-business.com/guides/hybrid-ofm/).
- **Hybrid mode**: Software handles conversations until a rule hands one to a person, usually on a spending threshold or a relationship age. Sold almost always on a vendor’s top plan. No published measurement compares it to the alternatives. [Chapter 6](https://ofm-business.com/guides/hybrid-ofm/).
- **Mass DM**: A message sent to a whole list at once rather than into one conversation. A standard CRM feature, and the main way an operator turns a back catalogue into revenue.
- **OFM**: Short for OnlyFans management: running a paid creator account for the person whose face is on it. Now used loosely for Fansly, Fanvue, MYM and Telegram accounts too. Not a term any platform uses. [Chapter 1](https://ofm-business.com/guides/what-is-ofm/).
- **Paid media**: Telegram’s own term for the same thing: media in a chat that a fan unlocks by spending Stars. Telegram publishes the rate the account receives per Star. [Chapter 2](https://ofm-business.com/guides/how-an-agency-is-paid/).
- **Persona**: The written description of who the account is supposed to be: name, age, location, tone, limits, forbidden topics. Required setup work whoever writes the messages. [Chapter 4](https://ofm-business.com/guides/chatter-costs-and-ai/).
- **PPV**: Pay per view: a photo or video sent inside a conversation and locked behind a price. The main sales object of the job, and the thing an unlock ratio is measured on. [Chapter 2](https://ofm-business.com/guides/how-an-agency-is-paid/).
- **Revenue share**: The agency’s percentage. The critical question is what it is a percentage of: gross fan payments, or creator earnings after the platform fee. The gap between the two is a quarter of the money. [Chapter 2](https://ofm-business.com/guides/how-an-agency-is-paid/).
- **Script**: An ordered sequence of messages and media with prices, followed in a conversation. Whether people or software write the inbox, the script is where the selling logic lives. [Chapter 4](https://ofm-business.com/guides/chatter-costs-and-ai/).
- **Setter**: Industry usage: the person who recruits creators for an agency, as opposed to the chatter who works the fan inbox. Sometimes paid per creator signed.
- **Shift**: A block of inbox coverage. Agencies that publish their rota describe three 8 hour blocks a day, or 12 hour blocks with teams handing over. The rota, not the hourly rate, is what determines payroll. [Chapter 4](https://ofm-business.com/guides/chatter-costs-and-ai/).
- **Telegram Stars**: Telegram’s in-app currency for digital goods. Telegram publishes both what a fan pays for them and what the receiving account gets, which makes it the most transparent part of the whole chain. [Chapter 2](https://ofm-business.com/guides/how-an-agency-is-paid/).
- **Unlock ratio**: The share of paid media sent that gets bought. A vendor figure unless the definition and period are published with it, in which case it becomes readable. Ask what was counted before believing the number. [Chapter 4](https://ofm-business.com/guides/chatter-costs-and-ai/).
- **Vault**: The stored library of media available to send. Its size and how well it is labelled set a hard ceiling on what any inbox can sell.
- **Whale**: A fan who spends far above the rest. The reason hybrid handoff rules exist: the threshold that sends a conversation to a human is normally a spending threshold. [Chapter 6](https://ofm-business.com/guides/hybrid-ofm/).
